The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer dropped on Tuesday, revealing Brooklyn’s Spider-Man Miles Morales taking on a team of the best Spider-people from different worlds. The sequel to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sees Miles navigating his way through an army of different incarnations of Spider-Man, all of whom are tasked with protecting their respective universes.
The trailer begins with Miles encountering The Spot, voiced by Jason Schwartzman, and being introduced to a host of new Spider-people by Gwen Stacy. Soon, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spider-people in a battle of morality and ethics. Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 challenges Miles in this regard, while also taking a playful dig at Doctor Strange and Peter Parker from Spider-Man: No Way Home. The popular Spider-Man pointing meme is also featured in the trailer.
The voice cast from the original film returns for the sequel, including Shameik Moore as Miles Morales, Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen, Jake Johnson as Peter B. Parker, Luna Lauren Velez as Rio Morales, and Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis. They are joined by new additions such as Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099, and Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart “Hobie” Brown/Spider-Punk. Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Jason Schwartzman round out the voice ensemble.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is helmed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Justin K. Thompson, and Kemp Powers, with Lord and Miller writing alongside Dave Callaham. The film is jointly produced by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, and Christina Steinberg, with Peter Ramsey, Bob Persichetti, Aditya Sood, Rodney Rothman, Rebecca Karch, and Brian Bendis serving as executive producers.
The highly-anticipated sequel will hit theatres on June 2 and is sure to excite fans of the original film and the Spider-Man franchise as a whole. With a talented voice cast, an engaging storyline, and stunning animation, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse promises to be another hit for Sony Pictures Entertainment.
